The definition for a·vant-garde: new and unusual or experimental ideas, especially in the arts, or the people introducing them.
Being a professional photographer not only are you always learning new things within your trade, but you must be open to it. While with years and years of experience in your field and mastering your craft, you are always finding new and beautiful ways to utilize your skills. Photography for me is a way of journaling with light and images, painting masterpieces that tell a powerful story.
Hello! I'm Heidi and I am a wedding, portrait, and boudoir photographer born and raised here in Wichita, KS.
I am an artist, a storyteller, a wine enthusiast, and a hopeless romantic. Being a part of the art community has always been important to me. I love painting, drawing, and writing, and spending time with friends and my husband in local coffee shops. And yes, I still shoot film, have a darkroom in my basement, and shoot with my Polaroid 600 I was given when I was a little girl.
When I was around twelve years old I started making portraits of my friends and family. I hardly ever went anywhere without a camera. Not much has changed as I have grown into adulthood as I have my Canon film camera in my purse with me wherever I go.
I am always inspired by the human interactions and connections going on around us. I take pictures of beautiful moments so that they are always available for us to revisit. Behind every photograph, there is a story, and photography is truly the greatest way I know how to portray these wonderful tales.
